MAKING CONTACT Once contact has been made between Rebecca Skinner and the interview subject, a brief discussion is held regarding ideas and possibilities for the book.
A pre-interview preparation sheet is sent to the interview subject to remind them to sort out a selection of good high quality images that they would like to have included – around 40 is a good number, as well as to help them structure their thoughts and memories.
THE INTERVIEW Then a time is made for the interview that suits both parties. The ideal situation is a face to face interview at the client's home. Rebecca is able to travel anywhere in the Central Coast, Hunter Valley, Port Stephens and Sydney areas as well as the Tamworth region. Other locations may also be possible.
IMAGES Rebecca will bring her laptop and scanner so she can scan and digitally enhance your images without them having to leave your possession.
DEPOSIT At the time of the interview a $200 deposit will be required.
PRICE GUIDE Once Rebecca has an idea of the scope of the story and book required she will then supply a written quote.
Prices vary depending on length of story and type of book chosen for printing. For example, a book of around 30 pages with around 1,000 to 2,000 words of copy and around 20 images will cost around $400 to $600. A 60 page book with around 8,000 - 10,000 words and around 30 – 40 images will cost around $1,500 to $2,000.
FIRST DRAFT Once the first draft has been completed it will be sent to the interview subject by email or post for checking and approval. Any changes must be made at this time. Once changes are received Rebecca will make the corrections and send the second draft to the interview subject for their sign-off which is the mark of their approval.
At this stage a 50 per cent deposit of the final quoted cost of the book will be required.
BOOK DESIGN Rebecca will then design the pages of the book, placing both images and text, proof read the book and send the pdf files away for printing.
EXTRA COPIES Interview subjects can obtain additional copies of the book which vary from $40 to $85 per book. In addition, with the more expensive books which come in their own presentation folders, a digital version of the book will be supplied.
