Prof T Marimuthu TESTIMONIALS OF LIFE STORY BOOKS
by Rebecca Skinner, Celebrating Life's Chapters
'The best thing I ever did is to contact you. and how glad am I to have chosen you out of many that are in this business. My gut feeling, which I always trust, singled you out and I could not be more pleased with what you have done. When I asked you to weave your magic, you certainly have.Your professional expertise, your encouragement and the tender loving care with which you retold my story so eloquently without losing my voice is a true testimonial to your character. I cannot imagine making this journey without you and I know that you will continue making others as happy as you have made me.' - Helen Milentijevic Book One
"Both books are a monumental achievement and I owe a million thanks to you for guidance, for retelling my story with such tender loving care, for your patience and above all, your sensitivity and understanding of my feelings. All that is representative of who you are and of your professionalism."
Helen Milentijevic Book 2
"Rebecca travelled to Kuala Lumpur to interview me. I received the books today. They look great! The photos have come out well. Thank you for all the hard work. Thanks for a job well done." - Tan Sri Prof Dato' T Marimuthu, Malaysia
"Mum was thrilled with her book. She immediately started reading it at the restaurant where we had her lunch and my 21 year old niece who was with us also immediately started reading her copy! Mum gave it to one if her friends at the retirement village to read that night and the friend said she thought she’d read just one chapter but couldn’t put it down and read it all in one setting. So you’ve obviously written it in a very engaging style." - VICKI
"Rebecca travelled considerable distance (2 hours drive) so that she could interview my elderly mother in the comfort of her own home. This helped mum feel secure. I think if she had been interviewed somewhere else she wouldn’t have felt so comfortable in talking about her life to someone she hadn’t met before. My mother felt really at ease while being interviewed by Rebecca. Mum said to me afterwards that Rebecca was a very nice lady and she felt she could talk to her easily. Mum said Rebecca was very patient helping her to recall facts and find old photos from her early life despite mum’s failing memory.
We found Rebecca took great care in telling mum’s story accurately especially checking historical facts and dates etc with us regularly. We felt that Rebecca became as involved as us in getting the story of mum’s life recorded and she was passionate about telling her story accurately and in the best narrative style. This is more than just a job for Rebecca. It is very evident that she really enjoys people, their history and the events that life has bought them on their journey." - VICKI
Olive Sclater is a gorgeous grandma from the Central Coast of NSW who used to make up stories for her grandchildren when they were little. Now they are grown up they have begged her to write her stories down so they will never be forgotten. She did one better - she got me to produce a beautiful book of them and when I showed it to her she cried. She said, "Seeing my book gave me goosebumps...For years I've been wanting to put my stories into a book and now it's finally done I'm over the moon. I love everything about it - the colours, the pictures, the design - it all goes together so well. The thought Rebecca put into it was amazing and it's really perfect. And you can't get better than perfect!"
"Mum hasn't seen the book yet as she won't be getting it until 30.13 - her 80th birthday. I think it's great and am sure she'll love it." - Roslyn Shoesmith
'I'm ecstatic. I think my book is wonderful, absolutely outstanding. Rebecca did everything marvellously. She made me feel at my ease and captured the essence of how I wanted my book to be. She did a lot of research into events I told her about and added in a lot of interesting facts that I know will delight generations to come. My book really is better than I ever thought it could be.' - John Dwyer (his book pictured left).
The books look FABULOUS. Mum is thrilled! They are a great success!” - Margaret Stevenson

'It’s incredible. The most amazing gift of my life. It means more than you know.' – Tamara Shoemark

'Really great reading Rebecca. Mum never talked much about her time during the war, so to read this has given me more of an insight to what she, her Mum and her sister endured. Also, I did wonder what happened to Mum’s father during and just after the war. Really interesting, happy and sometimes sad reading but so very true to Mum’s life – it will be such a lovely memento for all the family and for some of Mum’s close friends.' - Allison Watkiss

“People who have looked at my book say they’ve never seen anything like it before –it is quite different from the normal family histories. I say to them, ‘I wish you could have seen poor Rebecca going through my countless photo albums, looking for just the right images to include.' That’s what made it so special – all the stories together with all the special pictures. Looking at my book I am absolutely flabbergasted.
Olive Sclater on Anne Hoskins' life story book: “Anne gave me a copy and I just love it. It is so well done, really special. So many people had been asking her to record her story, but it was all too confusing and she just couldn’t get her back into it. But you just went ahead and got it all out of her!”

- It really is above all expectations. It shows what actually happened but in such a manner you really live it. The family will certainly treasure it - they had been on to me for years to record my life story. The interview was not as difficult as you would think. Rebecca fed me properly into the right channels and it was like the opening of the heart - the floodgates opened and wouldn't stop. And the way she presented it, tied everything together. - Anne Hoskins (pictured below with her book).
